What’s new with Google Custom Search?
We’ve been busy developing some great new features that make Custom Search an even better fit for your website or blog, and we realized you might not have heard about some of the things that we’ve been up to lately. Read on to learn about the new Custom Search Business Edition and how you can use it for site search, and how you can create a Custom Search Engine on the fly, such as one for your entire blogroll. You’ll also hear Salesforce.com recently began using Custom Search.
This is definitely a further advancement for Google in their social aspects (while shying away from social networks at the same time).
Google’s social side is more visible every day. A new service called “Shared Stuff” lets you share interesting links with your friends and the entire world. You need to drag a bookmarklet to your browser’s link bar or to click on the “Share” button from a web page (the button can only be found at Google Video right now).

I love Alice in Wonderland, in fact I have quite an extensive collection of editions. So what the F is “Alice in Wonderland Syndrome” and why is it #1 in Google Hot Trends right now?

Apparently:
Google has made some serious strides recently with their maps, from covering 75% of the world to adding international transit information to abilities of measuring distances. Now, Google adds a bit of the lighter, customizable side… Custom icons….

When we first started developing the map creation tools in Google Maps, I found a turkey hiding among the Maps placemark icons, a Thanksgiving leftover, no doubt. I proposed we include it in our icon menu. For some reason, no one else on the team seemed to think that was a good idea. I’m guessing few of you have been clamoring for a turkey, but perhaps you have wished for some other symbol that we neglected to include.
Arrrr! It surprises me too! Why be Pirates on #1 Google Hot Trend on Fire?
and it continues EVERYWHERE throughout Google Hot Trends:

It’s so sweet of Google to do this for us…
Obligatory disclaimer: While we’ve collected tips and pointers below, and we encourage webmasters to “please try the following at home,” this is by no means an exhaustive list for your website’s security. We hope it’s useful, but we recommend that you conduct more thorough research as well.

Yet another story of a free competitor to Microsoft’s Office. Somehow I think that Google Presentations are going to be a hit. My favorite feature thus far is definitely the ability to embed them in other web sites. Something as simple as embedding YouTube videos in blogs/web sites has definitely spurred their viral qualities.
See below for video demonstration straight from Google:
Usually Google has a little more tact and class, however, read below their letter to announce that Google Reader is leaving the Beta/Labs division.
Dear “Labs”,
We don’t know how to tell you this, but it’s time that we break up. It’s just that we’re different now. People can search. They can share what they read. They can even see trends about what they read, and how often they do it. There are all sorts of things we could do in the future to make feed reading awesome. And that means you just can’t be around anymore.
Not sure what’s going on now, first there was Korean, then there was Chinese , now there is Arabic showing up on Google Hot Trends:
