Sorry, I usually hate these, but I can’t stop laughing at this one for some reason.

The goal is simple, on October 15th (or the ides of October, as I like to call it), all the registered blogs will do 1 of 2 things:
Publish a post on their blog which relates to an issue of their own choice pertaining to the environment.
There are many great places to find information on the web about the environment, some of our favorite are:
- Treehugger - Easily the best environmental blog on the web, Treehugger has a great section called How to Go Green as well as tons of other useful stuff. It’s manned by some 40 writers around the world and contains no less than 14,000 posts!
- Wikipedia’s list of environmental issues - With enough links to keep you busy for hours, Wikipedia should easily set you off on your environmental web travels.
- Digg’s Popular Environment Stories - lists tons of popular posts and articles on all sorts of subjects. Looking forward to seeing some Blog Action Day posts appearing here and on reddit on October 15th!
- Green TV - If you need visual stimulation, Green TV has a lot of videos to get you going, divided up into channels of content, it is eminently watchable.
- We can live green - A lot of things boil down to practicality and We Can Live Green will help you find actual products and consumables that are environmentally friendly.
- IMDB’s Highest Rated Environmental Movies and Documentaries - Al Gore’s Inconvenient Truth isn’t the only environmental DVD to watch, check out IMDB’s list of features ordered by user ratings.
As the title says, it’s really only 3 minutes of fun and it’s hit or miss, but when you hit it, those 3 minutes are FUN! Tool called “Let Them Sing It For You” takes the words you type and converts them into really small song bits which stutters out the words in song form.
Maybe he needs to make money to spend money? Maybe it’s a part of the Vista Service Pack 1 Release?
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which is dedicated to global health issues among other philanthropic causes, revealed yesterday that it just so happens to hold 740,000 shares of McDonald’s stock. Wait, the same McDonald’s that contributes to the obesity epidemic in our country? Doesn’t that seem, I don’t know, counterintuitive? You’re paying for both the problem and the solution. That’s just poor business sense, Bill. [Reuters via The Raw

This is post is really for the picture of the monkey in glasses, but enjoy the content.
Let’s hear it for the nerds of New York, the coolest nerds on the planet. Like everything else in the big city, the intensity of the nerd experience here gets ratcheted up to astronomical levels because of the sheer density of nerds and the unlimited resources available to realize every nerd fantasy. With grassy parks to stage jousting tournaments, exhibition halls to host conventions, and shops to sell the paraphernalia for every nerdy pursuit, the New York nerd is the envy of his nationwide peers. Naturally, nerds, dorks, and geeks from far and wide descend upon the city for annual events like Comicon and the ASDA Fall Postage Stamp Mega-Event, but for the everyday New York nerd experience, you can’t beat these classic New York nerd venues.

I was there last night at the First Ever Brooklyn Beastie Boys concert and they were GREAT! Definitely saw lots of people around the roof tops. In fact, one rooftop had a video camera zoomed in and projected the concert on their wall for better viewing. So, in results, can somebody buy me a condo please? Like the one with the red arrows coming from it.

Why would someone plunk down a big deposit to live on Williamsburg’s Karl Fischer Row? To make a nice home for his/her family? To stake a claim as a conquerer of the new Williamsburg? No and no. As everybody knows, it’s all about trying to see McCarren Pool concerts for free. But how are the views? Phototipster Jesse Freeman was on the roof of the Aurora last night during the Beastie Boys’ Brooklyn homecoming, and while the above makes it clear that the Pool is not a stone’s throw away or anything, we kind of like this view from the back. It’s nothing a good pair of binoculars can’t fix, and you don’t actually have to interact with any short-shorts-wearing McCarren Pool regulars. By the way, the Developers Group website shows that the Aurora is pretty much all locked up. Karl Fischer Row, you’re so grown up!
