First iPhone line forms in Manhattan (4 days early)

This will probably be my only iPhone post, since, well, I’m not a fan of AT&T / Cingular’s coverage around the United States and especially the New York area. Other than that, I don’t hold too much against them. The iPhone, a 1st generation Apple product, while cool, I’d:

1. Be afraid to lose or break it too quickly (or have it stolen)

iPhone Line Waiters

2. Knows it has known bugs, so don’t feel like dealing with that

3. I work have an exchange server for my email, so my Windows Mobile 5 does me good (Where’s the WM6 Treo 800w Verizon!??! I want it now!)

4. Four or Eight GB of Hard Drive space for your music? My watch (not really) has more space.

Anyway, here’s the article, I commend the guy(s), I’ll buy him a pretzel or bring him a soda (probably not):

Google… You’re So Smart!

Ummmm, not that I use or will use any of the following anytime soon, I can still appreciate how ingenious Google is:

1. Add live Google data to Google Spreadsheets

The Webware weblog highlights 5 things you didn’t know about Google Docs and Spreadsheets, most notably that you can insert live lookups in Google Spreadsheets via Google search and Google Finance.

2. Custom Search Engine Gets some More Updates

3. Google Numbers and Facts:

From http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2007/06/google-numbers-facts.html

I’ll take a few interesting points, see the link for more:

Search
* When Google started we indexed 25,000 web pages - today we index billions. Each time we index the web it’s grown by 10 to 25%.
* 20 to 25% of Google queries have never been searched before.
* iGoogle was our fastest growing product last year (2006). People have personalized their iGoogle homepages with over 10,000 free gadgets.
Corporate culture
* In 2007 Google gave free bicycles to all its employees in Europe.
* Google’s San Francisco shuttle bus service is the biggest of any company in the area. One shared car provides as much transportation as 20 privately owned cars.
* Google has the largest corporate solar panel installation in the US.

Dick Cheney is a Real Dick Recently

“Host Chris Wallace wondered why the Vice President would have decided to stop complying with the executive order in 2003, since he had complied with it prior to then, and former Vice President Al Gore also complied with it.” Video and back and forth conversation through the Link ‘Fox pundit: Cheney in ’secured undisclosed bunker of his mind’

Wordpress 2.2.1 Upgrade Complete

Well, that was my first Wordpress Upgrade (2.2 to 2.2.1) and it went really smoothly. I followed the instructions, I backed up the files, backed up my SQL files, I deleted the files (that I was supposed to), I FTP uploaded all the new files and when I clicked on the upgrade.php, I got this:

Your Wordpress database is already up-to-date!

…Sweet. Plus, I forgot to deactivate my plugins, whoops. But no big deal, everything is working perfectly, as far as I can see. No major changes, obviously.

Wordpress 2.2 to 2.2.1 Upgrade

WordPress 2.2.1 is now available. 2.2.1 is a bug fix release for the 2.2 series. Since 2.2 was released a month ago, the WordPress community has been improving fit-and-finish by identifying and fixing those little bugs that can be so annoying and by fine-tuning some small details. The result is a nicely polished 2.2.1 release. The full list of bugs fixed in 2.2.1 is available here. Here are some highlights.

Unfortunately, 2.2.1 is not just a bug fix release. Some security issues came to light during 2.2.1 development, making 2.2.1 a required upgrade. 2.2.1 addresses the following vulnerabilities: See the Wordpress.org Blog for more

Has anyone upgraded yet? If so, no problems? Anyone use Bluehost’s Fantastico by any chance and alert them to upgrade?

I Love Comments: Dove Campaign

Thanks Technoroam, I love comments and thank you for commenting. To publish your comment a little more visibly, here it goes (FYI though it’s the same video link that I originally posted):

Public Perception of Beauty
This is another interesting video I found on YouTube and it highlights the realities of our distorted perception of beauty.  We are daily bombarded with images from magazines and billboards as examples of how people …

FlyZoom.com - IT MAKES ME SO MAD!

I need to rant about how annoying Flyzoom.com is, cheap flights from NYC to Bermuda and London. Awesome. London for a 3 day weekend was just a little too much money, so Bermuda was a better option. There was no direct flight there on the day we wanted, but $44 for premium class on the flight back each. An Amazing Deal. Found 1 way ticket from Orbitz to Bermuda for $157, combined with the $44 is only about a $200 round trip flight to Bermuda. Best Deal, let’s GO! SO, I’m glad I tried to book the FlyZoom.com.

imageHere’s the result for one ticket:
$44.00 Fare, $169.55 TAXES = $213.55 for one way

So, I went from $200 to $400 roundtrip flight for a 3 day vacation. Bastards! Boo Flyzoom.com, BOOO!

Singing Tesla Coil Electricity is Amazing

image Ummmm, this is in my WOW category, if I had one. If this is real, the stoners of America are possibly going to get more than just intense Laser Light shows at their future concerts. Basically, supposedly, “This is a solid-state Tesla coil. image
The primary runs at its resonant frequency in the 41 KHz range, and is modulated from the control unit in order to generate the tones you hear.” There are two videos from two different angles. First the long version, because that’s what I watched first, Singing Tesla Coil on MilkandCookies.com, then there’s a short, not so amazing just the Mario Brother’s Theme from Engadget.
